Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period such as this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
