Both Deceased Students Revealed in the Providence Campus Attack as Police Press On With Search for Killer.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also posted condolences online, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate new worry for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a police source informed the media outlet.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel found two handguns and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was arrested, according to reports.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, one student was released from the hospital, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a independent school in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “She was famed for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and peers and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
