Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, our country," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."
The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their work this season.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.
The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
