New information has come to light about the untimely demises of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence home on Sunday.

A Alarm

A source indicates citing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained without bail.

Correcting the Record

The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

The source also pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
