Dean Henderson Was rarely tested to perform in the first half but then called into action from Arbër Hoxha’s curled attempt. One well-timed sliding intervention on an Albanian attacker demonstrated excellent reading of the game. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Examined by Albania’s primary attacker through their forward. Played more centrally initially later drifted out wide once a teammate came on. Seven

John Stones Advanced forward when in possession, something he's known for previously. Sometimes was too casual when carrying play and the tactic was shelved by the interval. 6/10

The tall defender A constant threat from dead balls, per usual, perhaps is a replacement for his teammate in the backline instead of paired with him. A careless distribution later in the match nearly resulted in the first goal for the visitors. Six

Nico O’Reilly A further confident showing by the 20-year-old following his debut versus Serbia. A teammate was unable to take the most of a clever flick behind the Albania defence. The left-back spot is firmly his so soon. 7

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning for his country. Somewhat sloppy in possession but his whipped deliveries caused problems. A useful tempo-setter available to the boss to utilize versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a rash challenge. 6/10

The midfielder Set-pieces on corner kicks and free kicks were dangerous. Was given license to roam in left midfield yet found himself offside upon receiving with a chance to score. Awarded a merited rest on the hour mark. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Operated in an advanced position down the right and also put in defensive duties. Showed moments of class but mishit an effort wide. Withdrawn late on by a teammate, his rival, after being booked. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's best chance in the opening period, his shot well saved from Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate staying deep, he had to stretch the play out wide but his crosses from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. Six

Harry Kane The match-winner netting 77th and 78th strikes in an England shirt. The first a classic poacher’s finish while the second an excellent headed goal having drifted away off his defender. Aged 32, he continues to improve and England stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him leading the line. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact from the left. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in from a teammate yet Strakosha made the save. His replacement had a greater effect after coming on. 5

• Bukayo Saka (on for the winger at the 63-minute mark) Failed to convert but his corner created the opener, Six
