It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
