Vince Gilligan Reveals He Has a Plan for How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... Currently.

Vince Gilligan did not foresee that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a breakout success. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he remarks. “It was unexpected the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me overjoyed.”

As the debut season of the acclaimed series wrapping up—and Season 2 already in development—Gilligan and his team reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will shape the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Incredible Viewer Reception

One could easily to get sidetracked by the widespread acclaim and audience predictions surrounding Pluribus. He is making a conscious effort to ignore the noise.

“It feels like an endless supply of hot fudge sundaes and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's wonderful, but I get wind of it from others, and that's on purpose. Not once have I Googled myself, nor do I ever plan to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a bottomless pit I know I would fall into and then I'd be living in squalor from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

Despite trying to stay away, there’s no way to avoid the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We don't try to change the plot,” says Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not influenced by online forums.”

“We prefer to keep our noses to the grindstone,” he chimes in.

The Central Mystery: Has the showrunner Know the Conclusion of Pluribus?

Considering the writers aren't taking cues by fan response, does that mean they have mapped out how Pluribus will reach its endpoint? In short yes… in a way.

“We have some potential directions about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan says. “but we are always ready to discard a decent plan for a better idea. That philosophy has guided us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

Then again, if plans fall through, Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but no one is buying it.”

Of course, one could always use the legendary finales?

“I want Carol to awaken beside Bob Newhart,” Gilligan says with a smile.

Pluribus is currently available on the streaming service.
