White House Decries 'Democratic Hoax' as More Epstein Estate Photos Released
House Democrats have made public a new tranche of what they labeled "disturbing" photographs from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The initial drop of 19 images—a portion of which have been previously circulated—plus another 70 released later on Friday account for a minuscule portion of the nearly 100,000 images released to the House oversight committee, which is looking into the actions and ties of Epstein.
The shamed investor was a victim of an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York detention cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking offenses.
High-Profile Individuals in the Photos
Among the high-profile individuals seen in the initial batch are public figures such as film director Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin conglomerate.
Donald Trump appears in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is photographed with six women, whose faces are obscured.
Administration Reaction
The White House addressed the release in a official comment, accusing Democrats of selectively "hand-picking" the images for political purposes and to "try and create a false narrative."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been consistently disproven," a presidential representative said, asserting that "the current government has done more for Epstein's victims than Democrats have ever done by frequently urging transparency, releasing thousands of pages of papers, and calling for additional probes into Epstein's Democratic associates."
Panel Member Remarks
The images were released without context, but according to a Democratic representative from California and ranking member of the oversight committee, they raise more questions about Epstein's connections to affluent people.
"Now is the occasion to end this White House obfuscation and secure justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his well-connected allies," he said in a release.
The disclosure of these documents comes as the oversight committee proceeding with its investigation into the Epstein case.
